GARDEN
Vegetables
• Sow seeds or plants of carrots, parnsip, radish, silverbeet,
spinach, celery, leeks, beetroot, lettuce, spring onions,
peas, turnips, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage
and pak choi
• Look out for white butterflies and control their caterpillars
with Success, Derris Dust or Beat-a-Bug Insect Spray
• Protect young seedlings from snails and slugs with
Tui Quash
• Hoe regularly to prevent competition from weeds
Fruit
• Feed with Burnett's Gold Fruit and Citrus Food and
spray with Copper, Oil and Confidor
• Use netting to protect ripening fruit
• Prepare ground for winter planting of strawberries
by digging in lots of compost and Tui's Sheep Pellets
Herbs
• Divide and replant perennial herbs such as chives,
mint, thyme, sage and marjoram/oregano and harvest outdoor
basil
• Sow coriander, rocket and parsley from seed
Ornamental Garden
Bulbs
• Plant out anemones, ranunculus, freesias and hyacinths
• Blend a dressing of bulb food into the soil when planting
bulbs
Roses
• Fertilise with Burnet’s Gold Rose Food and continue
dead-heading back to an outward facing leaf
• Plan and order new roses for June delivery
General
• Keep an eye out for pests and apply the appropriate
spray - check with us which is best to control your pest
• Start replacing dying summer annuals with pansies,
polyanthus, cineraria, lobelia, nigella, viscaria and poppies
• March is the best month for planting new shrubs and
hedges. Dig in plenty of Dalton’s Organic Compost and
Tui Garden Galore prior to planting
• New season camellias are available for selection and
planting
Lawns
• Re-sow if dried out or patchy
• Fill in dips with Tui Lawn Preparation Mix and pior
to sowing spread with Yates Lush Lawn Starter
• Sow with Tui Superstrike Lawnseed and wer everyday
until fully germinated
• Feed established lawns with Tui Greenkeeper’s
Gold
Containers
• Refresh spent annuals and replace with bulbs and plants,
feed with appropriate Burnet’s Gold fertiliser. |
